Présentation : ill. en noir, couv. ill. en noir Format : 28 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-960981-78-7 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : HIST THE Histoire et théorie de l'art Résumé : This is an anthology of essays that first appeared in The Artist as Curator, a series that occupied eleven issues of Mousse from no. 41 (December 2013/January 2014) to no. 51 (December 2015/January 2016). It set out to examine what was then a profoundly influential but still under-studied phenomenon, a history that had yet to be written: the fundamental role artists have played as curators. Taking that ontologically ambiguous thing we call “the exhibition” as a critical medium, artists have often radically rethought conventional forms of exhibition making. This anthology surveys seminal examples of such exhibitions from the postwar to the present, including rare documents and illustrations.
It includes an introduction and the twenty essays that first appeared in Mousse, a newly commissioned afterword by Hans Ulrich Obrist, and two additional essays that appear here for the first time, discussing twenty-two exhibitions by the Avant-Garde Argentinian Visual Artists Group; Mel Bochner; Marcel Broodthaers; Hank Bull, Shen Fan, Zhou Tiehai, Shi Yong, and Ding Yi; John Cage; Judy Chicago, Miriam Schapiro, and the CalArts Feminist Art Program; Collaborative Projects Inc. (Colab); Alice Creischer, Andreas Siekmann, and Max Jorge Hinderer; Liam Gillick and Philippe Parreno; Group Material; Richard Hamilton and Victor Pasmore; David Hammons; Martin Kippenberger; Mark Leckey; Goshka Macuga; Lucy McKenzie and Paulina Ołowska; Hélio Oiticica; Walid Raad and Akram Zaatari; Martha Rosler; Avdey Ter-Oganyan; Philippe Thomas; and Andy Warhol. The artist as curator : an anthology [texte imprimé] / Elena Filipovic, Editeur scientifique . - Milano : Mousse publishing : London : Koenig Books, [s.d.] . - 1 vol.409 p.) : ill. en noir, couv. ill. en noir ; 28 cm.

Tal R has been a storyteller from the outset of his career in the 1990s, always hovering between figuration and abstraction with a special eye for the overlooked, hidden and repressed spaces of modern life. “I do painting a bit like people make a lunch box,” he once declared. “I constantly have this hot-pot boiling and I throw all kinds of material into it.” While the artist is well known as a prolific publisher of artist’s books (usually gathering specific bodies of work), Academy of Tal R is the most substantial overview of his diverse ouevre yet published. Titre : Renë Daniëls : fragments from an unfinished novel Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Angela M. Présentation : ill. en coul., couv. ill. en noir Format : 27 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-3-960983-52-1 Note générale : Catalogue publié à l'occasion de l'exposition du même nom au MAMCO du 27 février au 5 mai 2019 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : MON Monographie Résumé : René Daniëls occupies a prominent place in the history of contemporary art from the latter half of the 20th century, despite the fact that his career was abruptly interrupted in 1987 after he suffered a stroke. Emerging in the late 1970s, when figurative and expressive painting once again became popular, Daniëls soon developed an original, personal language. Although he enjoyed early recognition, Daniëls had no qualms about experimenting with different pictorial styles. Nevertheless, certain motifs recur under constantly changing forms, following an associative, dream-like logic. Not unlike a composer, Daniëls devises variations on a theme. From 1984 onwards, one motif was to play a dominant role: that of an exhibition room seen in perspective. This form, resembling a bow tie, is reproduced in compositions in which he plays with mirroring effects, overlapping layers, or changes of direction.
Inspired by the title of one of the rare texts written by Daniëls, the exhibition Fragments from an Unfinished Novel explores the phenomenon of déjà vu and the relation between perception and memory, which lie at the heart of his practice. Including historic paintings and several works never previously exhibited, the exhibition recounts the development of Daniëls’ visual language by exploring the effects of repetition and variation inherent in his work. A wide selection of drawings completes the presentation, offering a closer understanding of the evolution of his vocabulary.Renë Daniëls : fragments from an unfinished novel [texte imprimé] / Angela M.
